How does the spectrum of the PlasmaGrow compare to that of a metal halide or high pressure sodium light?

Due to its very broad light spectrum, the PlasmaGrow Light is like having the combined spectrums of a MH and HPS in one compact unit. The bulb inside the light engine burns at 5,600 kelvin, which is virtually the same spectrum as the sun and is why it is a full spectrum light.

How bright is the PlasmaGrow Light?

When positioned properly (about 8” from the plant canopy) it approximates the intensity of a 1000 watt MH and a 600 watt HPS.  At maximum intensity the light will yield a 5’ x 5’pattern at 4'.  Similar to other lighting technologies, when you move the light further from the canopy the intensity will be less.

How much energy will I save with the PlasmaGrow?

The PlasmaGrow Light draws only 290 watts and 2.5 amps on a 120V circuit, less than 2 amps on 240v circuit and less than 1 amp on 208v.  That’s over a 70% reduction in energy as compared to a 1000 watt ballast!  The energy consumption is less than 50% of a 600 watt high pressure sodium light.  An additional benefit may be seen in energy savings due to a reduction in cooling costs. On a 20 amp circuit at 120V you can run 8 PlasmaGrow Lights compared to 3 - 1,000 watt HPS with 1 cooling fan.  This is a huge reason why the PlasmaGrow light is in such high demand.

How do I cool the PlasmaGrow Light?

The PlasmaGrow Light is very efficient at turning electrical energy into light so that little excess heat is generated.  It is very likely even in a warm weather environment that no elaborate air exchange/cooling will be necessary for your greenhouse or indoor garden. We did testing in our grow tent that is 5'x5'x7', without any ventilation, and the temperature reached a maximum of 80.2 degrees! You save more money because there's no need to have a separate ventilation for these lights as compared to the traditional A/C reflectors.

How long will the bulb last?

The PlasmaGrow Light engine is rated to 30,000 hours.  At 14 hours a day running 365 days a year you will enjoy 6 years or more of service free light.  After 6 years the unit can be sent in for a new light engine costing about half of the original unit cost.  The fixture may be recycled up to 3 times.

How close can I put the light to my plants?

The PlasmaGrow Light generates very little heat, especially heat that radiates outward from the lens.  To maximize the light intensity and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) light for your plants, positioning the lamp approximately 8” from the plant canopy is optimal.  Some plant species are more or less tolerant to heat and adjustments may be necessary.  Moving the light further away from the plant canopy will increase the footprint of the light but decreases the intensity of the PAR light.

Where can I buy the PlasmaGrow light?

The PlasmaGrow Light is distributed through:

Colorado Grow

3400 Industrial Lane, Unit 10A

Broomfield, CO 80020

Does the PlasmaGrow have any compliance certifications?

Yes, the fixture is both FCC compliant and UL listed.

Is the PlasmaGrow light safe to use in a high humidity environment?

Yes, the fixture and power supply are “damp” rated for use in high humidity environments.

How much does the PlasmaGrow weigh?

The PlasmaGrow weighs 17.15 pounds.

How long is the electrical cord to the lamp?

There is 15' cord from the PlasmaGrow Light to the plug end.

What is the warranty for the PlasmaGrow Light?

The PlasmaGrow Light carries a three year warranty on the electronics and lamp components and a 5 year warranty on the mechanical. Estimated lifespan of the unit is 6 years under normal conditions.
